What: Reunited and it feels so good! (make the connection, darling. Peaches and Herb!).
Where: the Hospital Wing
Rating: PG for talk of making out
After much coercing, Madam Pomprey agreed to let Adrian inside the hospital wing. It wasn't long before he was standing beside Marietta's bed, one hand rested on the mattress. "Is she sleeping?" he asked, glancing over a few cards that lay on the night stand.
Marietta stirred, shifting under the covers. "Mmmph, what?" she mumbled, sleepily, reaching up to brush her hair out of her eyes and trying to sit up.
Adrian slipped an arm around her back, holding her up. "Hi, peach," he said, softly, and inched onto the bed. "How are you feeling?"
"I mentioned the 'sat on by an elephant' thing, didn't I?" she replied, wryly. "But I feel much better than I did before. I'm sure I'll be able to leave soon."
He kissed her shoulder. "At least the bed's comfortable," he confirmed, lightly punching the mattress with his free hand.
"I'd much rather be up and about than stuck in an infirmary bed, though." Marietta complained, pouting slightly. "I'm sick of just lying around. I could be doing things! If nothing else, I'm missing classes, Adrian! What if I fall behind? I'm going to have to do so much study."
"I've been practising writing legibly for you," he stated, rather proudly. "You could use my notes," he offered, wrapping both of his arms around her. "Besides, I'll guess you know half what they're teaching already."
"That'd be great, Adrian, I'm going to need to catch up on so much." She looked very put out by the idea that she might actually fall behind in any of her classes. "Well, I have been doing some reading ahead in most of them..."
"Over achiever," he teased, rubbing her shoulders. "I can help you. Not that it's been easy to pay attention since you've been in here. But for now, you need to stop worrying." He sighed. "Marietta, there's so much more to do when you're not around."
"How am I supposed to stop worrying once you've said something like that?" she nudges him with her shoulder. "What've you been doing, in my absence?"
"Oh, not much," he joked, though the truth was he was very lost the first couple of days. He played with her hair, lifting it up and folding it over her head. How did girls do it? "Mostly I just make it look like I know what I'm doing. But all of our students are alive, so I consider my job done."
She blew a few strands of hair out of her face and smiled. "So long as you're not completely lost without me."
He let her hair down. "You better come back soon, peach. I've missed you." He kissed the back of her head and moved off of the bed.
"Well, I've missed you, too." Clearly, she must've got a bump on the head when she was hexed.
He'd take it. He moved in to kiss her and stopped short of her lips. "Does this mean we can't make out until you get out of here?"
"Unless you'd like to be walked in on by Madam Pomfrey and kicked out for disturbing my rest."
He considered it for a moment, but thought he had better follow the rules. "Tempting." His mouth twisted. "One won't hurt," he excitedly whispered, dashing in for a quick peck. "Next time I see you, peach, you better be in my bed."
"Only in your wildest dreams, Adrian." She managed a grin, before yawning. "I think I'm going to get some more sleep now...if you don't mind..."
Adrian nodded and gave Madam Pomfrey a quick goodbye before heading out.
